Too Many Updates!

Is anyone else shocked that summer is over? It seems like it flew by!

Our summer was spent close to home due to many factors. First of all, Josiah is waiting for the call that they may have a heart for him, so we don’t go far at all.

Secondly, Kim’s mom took a nasty fall and spent 23 days at University of Washington Hospital before being transferred to a Rehab Facility. She is home now and doing much better, which is a huge miracle and answer to many prayers. While Kim was still having to work, she tried to visit as much as possible.

Thirdly, Shine-a-Blind is always busiest in the summer. Between all of the window coverings sales, cleaning, and repairs, we added selling exterior shades and retractable awnings last summer. Much like HVAC, people are most interested in these home upgrades in the hottest months of the year.

Along with the changing seasons, Josiah is entering into a new season of his medical journey. Mid-November, he will turn 21. Can you believe it?!?

The Seattle Children’s Heart Transplant team is keeping him in their system as long as they can, partly because they love him (the feeling is mutual) and partly because they can waive some of the adult transplant requirements to give him a chance to get a heart sooner.

They are helping us through the transition to the University of Washington Heart Transplant and VAD Clinic team. We actually got to meet his future cardiologist and one of the four VAD Coordinators a couple of weeks ago.

They seem like sweet people, but it is going to take a while to get used to the change. It’s also a bigger system, which could provide more resources but also be less personal. Seattle Children’s has set the bar forever for what the best care looks like!

One strange blessing out of Mom’s hospital stay was getting familiar with the UW Hospital, and seeing where the Heart Center is, as Josiah’s cardiology visits will be there.

There are more updates, but I will stop here. Hoping to post more in the next couple of weeks, as there is a LOT more to share.

Thank you for your prayers and your support in any and every way it comes!! We are blessed beyond measure for this village!!!
