Kadence Concurs the Final Meetings with the TRANSPLANT TEAM …

After a very intense week, 7 different appointments, 7 different members of the Transplant Team at Children’s Mercy, Kadence is ready to prepare for the physical and mental battle ahead.

We learned that the Chief of the Transplant Team is confident that Kadence is on the right path to minimizing the exceptional risk this surgery carries. There are so many variables, so many things that could occur or may not be manageable but we are hinging all things in faith. We have the one weapon we need the most, the Lord Jesus Christ to call on, lean on, and ask for the strength to get through this and all FUTURE transplants. We pray for those on TEAM KADENCE supporting us every step of the way. They are lead by incredible warriors, Nicole and Eddie Lonergan – Campaign Managers, Julie Fende, Matt and Victoria Blume, Ashton and Shannon Shechter, Erin and Jason Flood. They are leading the charge to give Kadence his best shot at having a living donor and we couldn’t ask for more.

In this process so many things we thought were part of the “before” transplant are much different but it’s the “after” transplant that we didn’t have the full picture until this week.

The medications, at least 7 anti rejection drugs, and more we won’t have information about until we test Kadence further. The anti rejection drugs require labs twice a week, 30 to 60 minutes BEFORE he can take that dose, each dose MUST BE 12 HRS APART ON THE DOT! NO EXCEPTIONS OF ANY KIND! We will do whatever is necessary to ensure all planning and preparations are done to achieve this lofty task, Kadence life will depend on it. The 3 of us sat taking it all in, me writing notes, asking tons of questions but as parents our hearts were across the room in Kadence hands. My brain was just trying to wrap my mind around what this will look like as I began to schedule it all in theory.

That’s what we do right, every mom in every situation is in a constant state of planning their families day to day, their day as mine all about paving the way for “it all”.

Every life if precious, everyone should feel cherished, I am honored to do this daily for my only son, Kadence.
