Kason update post op day 16:

This kid of mine is absolutely amazing. He has been fever free for 3 days now. He is off all his tube feeds and is eating and drinking everything by mouth now. Grandpa Joe and I have been in a classroom for the last 2 days learning how to give all his meds, monitor his glucose, use his new insulin pump and clean and care for his gj tube. It’s a lot and we were overwhelmed but we got through it together and our teacher loved us. Lol
Kason is set to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow afternoon. Ronald McDonald House will continue to be our home for the next 4 weeks as we go to multiple outpatient appointments weekly. Doctors will be following him closely with blood tests and sonograms to keep an eye on his blood clots. They are both in nonocclusive veins and getting smaller. He is also showing no signs or symptoms from them.
We are also set up with equipment so his blood sugars can be followed remotely so I feel comfortable being so close to the hospital if any problems arise.
You all are wonderful. Kason has received cards from people all over the country. We love getting them and it lifts our spirits knowing people are out there praying for him. Thank you all for the prayers as we transition over to taking care of Kason ourselves.
