It is so crazy it has been over 3 weeks since Kason’s surgery. He is doing AMAZING!! He got a much needed haircut yesterday (see the handsome pick below). He requested the VIP at Sports Clips and enjoyed his massage.
Our days have been busier than they were when he was inpatient. We go back and forth between the hospital and Ronald McDonald House for appointments. He usually has 3 appointments daily with different specialties and they are spread out throughout the day.
The good news is that each specialty we see agrees that Kason is weeks ahead of where he should be. We are hopeful to be going home earlier than expected.
Our nights consist of fighting his blood sugars. It is so strange that we have less control of it when he isn’t eating. Endocrine has stressed how important it is to keep a tight control on his blood sugars right now to give his islet cells that were transplanted the best outcome. We are trying to figure out a pattern of his overnight blood sugars but so far, it isn’t working with us. Lots of sleepless nights making sure he stays within range is taking its toll on Joseph and I. Kason sleeps through it all and gets plenty of rest for healing.
Thank you all for the continous prayers
***THANK YOU to everyone who participated and shared our Chipotle fundraiser. Our group purchased a total of $685 dollars of food that evening. Chipotle is mailing our % straight to COTA for Kason’s transplant related expenses.
