COTA for Kidney Warrior Justin

Our Story

Justin is a strong, but shy, 12-year-old. He enjoys playing video games and desires to play soccer. He was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease at birth in 2012. His condition is Left renal agenesis(absent) & right renal hypoplasia(small). He was also born with bilateral mild hearing loss. Justin is a joy to all those that he meets. Most people are unaware that throughout his life he has had several surgeries including g-tube placement and ear tubes. He continues to endure several medications orally in addition to growth hormone injections and epogen injections for his anemia, countless doctor visits, and blood draws all while keeping an upbeat spirit. Justin is currently awaiting kidney transplant surgery.

Once Justin receives his transplant, he will start on a new journey; he will be on immunosuppressant medication for the rest of his life so that his body does not reject the kidney. He will continue to endure doctor visits, blood work, scans and other tests to make sure his kidney continues to function properly.

Our family has partnered with COTA to raise money in honor of Justin to assist with a lifetime of transplant related expenses. 100% of the funds raised and donated to COTA in honor of Justin will be for transplant related expenses. We cannot express how thankful we are for COTA and all of Justin’s supporters through these difficult times in our lives.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
