First of all, thank you for all your messages, thoughts, prayers and positive energy!
Secondly, thank you to everyone who has helped. No matter if you donated or shared, I really appreciate it.
Now, the doctors still don’t know what exactly is happening with Leaven. They know he has a kidney condition that he has struggled with his whole life. It took this acute incident to finally get some hope for answers. He has always had some issues that Elijah and I have brought up to doctors multiple times, but we were always told that he would “grow out of it”.
Right now we are waiting for the genetic testing to get back. Leaven asked if I thought his kidneys would ever get better and had to tell him that I didn’t think so. I made sure he knows that it isn’t an insurmountable challenge. That we will work around it.
The hardest part so far is I have been waking him up in the middle of the night. He’s being really awesome about it though and I haven’t had to wrestle with a little angry sleep-drunk monster.
He has been going to get blood work every two weeks. He’s on a restricted diet, which has been a point of anxiety and fear. The day I took him to the ER was…scary. He is learning to trust me that I also don’t want another acute incident and is getting really good about telling me about anything wrong and is patient with my constant questions.
Home school may be in his future, along with dialysis and possibly a kidney transplant. But everyone is trying their best to keep the kidneys he has working as long as possible.
Once again, thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. Thank you for the support.
I’m trying to stay positive and keep him happy and entertained! Here’s a picture of him getting to pet Bumpy at the Jurassic World Exhibit.
