I got a call yesterday about scheduling one of the first steps to getting him in the transplant list. We (Elijah, Leaven, and I) will be attending his transplant team meeting mid-December.
Here is what I understand so far about the process. The team meeting happens first. There, we will meet everybody involved in transplant from doctors to nutritionists. Next, there will be another meeting where the team will be discussing the plan forward and deciding…doctor things. (I’ll ask what the specifics are). Once the second meeting is held and he is put on the transplant list, living donors (should you want to help) can sign up to get evaluated.
There is still a lot of time that will probably pass and plenty of big feelings. I sat Leaven down and told him about the meeting yesterday, but because he has such big feelings about the transplant it took a little bit to explain to him it was just a meeting and it isn’t until next month. He is terrified and scared. He doesn’t want to have a transplant.
He doesn’t understand why I’m not upset. I told him I wanted to try and donate so that he can get better faster, he didn’t get why that didn’t scare me either. I told him I had faith everything was going to get better, that I was using all my will and he has warriors all over that are using their will too. That will and faith is going to be so important in the coming months.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I appreciate the messages and warmth.
