Our Story

Kyara Rose is a beautiful talented artistic 9 year old who’s life was turned around two years ago. Everyday is a fight for her to live and us as a family standing a long side holding her hand and showing her that we are not giving up and here to fight with her.

Our little sister, Kyara Rose, was experiencing severe weight loss and her physical health started to deteriorate rapidly at the end of 2016. In February of 2017, she was admitted to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital for a bronchoscopy. She was thought to have asthma or bronchitis because she was having such difficulty breathing. However, her body was unable to handle the procedure and Kyara was in an induced coma for three months. We discovered that she has a rare disease called Bronchiolitis Obliterans. “Bronchiolitis obliterans (BO), also known as popcorn lung and constrictive bronchiolitis, is a disease that results in obstruction of the smallest airways of the lungs (bronchioles) due to inflammation. Symptoms include a dry cough, shortness of breath, wheezing and feeling tired.”

Over the past couple of months, she has undergone a high treatment of radiation and steroids. These have helped, but she desperately needs a lung transplant so that she can be rid of this disease. The funds collected will go to help fund the next stage of Kyara’s battle and the support needed to help her recovery. If you can, please donate to help us get the help she needs. Thank you for reading her story and for your thoughts and prayers for her recovery.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
