Our Story

When Kyler was 4 months old a series of events brought us to the emergency room for some tests. We shortly found out our little guy was in severe heart failure and shortly after he was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. We spent over 30 days in the ICU before being able to go home. We spent a year at home with him off and on, with several hospital visits and stays. In May 2024 we were admitted for a virus for what we thought would be a couple days. As time passed his heart started declining more rapidly than we liked. We were quickly advised to move towards placing a VAD to help ease the load on his heart and to go through transplant eval. He had VAD surgery June 1 and we were on the list officially July 1. He has done well while waiting, and was happy and active. After 137 days listed Ky officially got his miracle heart and we are forever grateful to the family for choosing to save a life in their tragedy. To God be the glory.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
