THREE & Busy!

I am not sure where the last 3 years went, but our baby is THREE today! He loves to play outside any chance he gets. He is learning so much and growing into such an independent toddler.

Landon has already had a busy week with appointments and it’s only Tuesday!
Monday, he met with his GI doctor and dietitian. They are happy with his progress since last month.
This morning, he saw his oncology doctor and she is also pleased with his progress. I asked her about Landon’s difficulty walking after the IVIG (Intravenous Immunoglobulin) treatment. It was like he was relearning to walk for 4 days! It was very scary. She said it could have been aseptic meningitis, which is a rare side effect of IVIG, so she doesn’t think it would happen again in future IVIG sessions. It is definitely something we have to consider when monitoring his labs and course of treatments. She also informed me due to Landon’s bad kidneys, he loses antibodies through his urine, along with losing protein. Since he’s getting antibody deficits from multiple factors, the likelihood of having to have another IVIG treatment in the future is high.

Landon will need some additional labs during next week’s appointment because his phosphorus has been running high. The kidney doctor suggested checking some other numbers to make sure everything’s looking okay there. If anything, they’ll just watch trends for a while.

We have a few more appointments at the end of the week, but we’re happy everything has been low key for the most part. Landon got a small cold last week and has recovered well. I am so glad he got that IVIG treatment when he did. I just wish he didn’t share that cold with me, but it’s a small price to pay for the best hugs and kisses from my sweet boy.

  1. Our sweet boy is growing so fast now. Such a smart little guy. Papa and Grammie are so very proud of this happy hard fighting miracle. Love him to the moon and back. God is Great!
