Post-op Day 13

We are officially two weeks out from transplant! Leila’s kidney is doing amazing and everyone is very pleased.

We have started the weaning process from the medications she has been on for pain and sedation. It has not gone well! We did a bit too much to fast and Leila let us know she did not like it! To put it mildly Leila was miserable with withdrawal symptoms today. We regrouped with her team and adjusted out plan. Around 2pm she finally leveled out and was able to rest comfortably.

This afternoon she was a bit drowsy, but we would rather have her drowsy than miserable. She did perk up and give us a smile, and decided she would rather play with an empty water bottle than any of the toys we have for her. 😆🤷🏻‍♀️

With her lungs and kidneys both doing well our next big step is weaning the meds. Please pray that Leila would have a better response with this next couple of weans than she did last night.
