Lucy Gets Discharged!

It’s discharge day!! We are out of here! Next step is Ronald McDonald House for a while, likely a few weeks. Even though we are being discharged, Lucy still needs to be close to the hospital for ongoing care and monitoring.

We can’t thank you enough for all of your support and love through this journey. It has truly meant the world to us during what has been the most difficult time, of our lives. We have a lot of work ahead and transplant is a lifelong journey. Lucy will need anti rejection medications and close medical care for the rest of her life. That said, we likely will not be posting as many updates to this page. A pause in posting doesn’t mean anything bad has happened; we just want to take some time to enjoy Lucy and focus on her health and recovery.

All this wouldn’t have been possible without the generous and selfless family that agreed to donate their child’s organs so that others could live. There is truly no greater gift. We ask an additional favor of all of you – take time to think about organ donation. Check your drivers license. Talk to your families about your wishes. Lucy has a chance to live and grow because of organ donation and there are so many other people waiting for that chance. Please consider checking that box on your drivers license so others can have the same opportunities as Lucy!
