Days 19 & 20 – August 23, 2025

We got out of the ICU to the floor and had quite a night. He was a little bit tired from his big workout getting off oxygen. He got on his bipap for the night and we needed a little bit higher settings for him to recuperate. Thankfully, the doctors and nurses overnight were really great about letting us use our elevated home settings that our pulmonologist had given us. They said what was happening was because he was mobile the past two days. Also, a lot of fluid was moving around his body and draining so they took an x-ray and confirmed that the fluid was moving around his lungs and so we started some chest therapy and some albuterol treatments. The next day we were very tired we slept and cuddled till about 11 am. Andy, my mom, and the kids came to visit which helped Mac’s “roid rage” as they call it and he stayed on the BiPAP the whole day to help recooperate his lung strength. It was a faith testing day. He got his pic line out of his neck which helped his agitation.

He’s so strong! We had a more restful night last night- breathing more stable just wake ups with vitals and meds taken. This morning we woke up talking more again asking “no hurt?” To the nurses. We had some sprints on low Flo oxygen to play with our barn and sitting with rara (pictured) and even ate some homemade pizza without spitting any out yay!  He loves watching tractor Ted as much as he can. And we got to ride in the wagon. Lots of “Cheshire Cat” smiles as Evelyn says, snuggles and singing today. So thankful! Continued prayers for health and staying well and oxygenation as his lungs grow stronger breathing with a larger kidney in his body. Praises for it functioning so well. Can you see it in his eyes? I can!

Let us always proclaim “let them see that this is your hand, that you yourself have done it Lord!” Psalm 109:27
