We had some fun filled days & then the tummy bug hit Mac at 9 pm Friday night and it was relentless. Given his new kidney the threshold is low for not having hydration. We switched to just water with sodium after our 2nd episode
At 10 pm and when he had his next episode at 2 and 3 am we decided it was time to take him to the ER. Thankfully Andy decided to not leave for a hunting trip before Mac’s episodes Friday night or it would have been difficult. The ER was empty when we got there and Mac was immediately seen. After fluids and zofran he stopped throwing up and even wanted water and a fruit bowl around 9 am. We made it a family day & we all camped out in the ER watching movies and playing I spy. His labs looked great he got iv fluids in time so there was no kidney injury. We stayed overnight to make sure he continued eating/tolerating tube feeds and were woken up this morning to getting to go home-arrived home before noon. Our shortest admission. Thank you God for making all things new
