That smile! Around 10 pm last night the smiles, laughter & more abundant playing flooded in. Mac is back. An answered prayer.
Mac’s tube feeds are going very well, he’s on lower oxygen support.
We are thrilled with Mac’s progress as well as Andy’s. The team is equally ecstatic. I often forget that this ICU team doesn’t know the Mac we know. They have him wheeled in after surgery and meet a new child. The nurse we had the first two nights saw him last night and rejoiced “he’s on his knees!” Haha we tried while he was heavily sedated because that’s all he wanted. & she was so happy to see him be able to do what he wanted.
The surgery team knew him but seeing the ICU nurses, doctors, PA’s that have had him for a week rejoice in his sweet personality showing is beautiful to witness.
They were extubating our neighbor yesterday & I was praying over Mac but also him psalm 124 “If God had not been on our side”. This journey with Mac – anyone’s journey. God’s unfailing love is all around in his many mercies
Big brother & sister have been champions cheering Mac up; giving him frankincense tallow massages, playing the violin or telling him stories and sometimes giving him some space if he needs it. God has been so merciful & providing so many fun outlets here daily art classes, bingo, and they got to be on dream big studios today! Also big thanks to Michael Fordinal, Jess’ husband whose been mopping floors, taking the kids to the park and tons of odd end jobs to keep us afloat. Also a huge thanks to Aaron Erickson, Erica Player, Hannah and Devan and Angela & Mirko for all their many farm runs to make sure all our our animals are hydrated, milked and loved on. Thank you also to my parents & brother and sis in law & Andy’s parents for being so supportive of our every need during this time. To you reading this, thank you for reading these messages, pleading with God on our behalf and cheering us on in spirit. The community of Christ astounds us.
