Macy’s recovery is going so well! She’s just 3.5 weeks post op and everything is really really good. She’s feeling good (minus the moodiness from high dose steroids) and is able to get out on walks and hang out with friends (she even went in to Brandon’s office for some desk work because she is bored)! She’s no longer requiring insulin or required to check her blood sugars 4 times a day. The best news is that she has beaten the odds and is not spilling any protein in her urine. This means that her FSGS officially remains in remission! Her nephrologist admitted yesterday, that she was sure the FSGS would recur. I had a good feeling it wouldn’t, but didn’t want to jinx it, so I tried to remain neutral hahaha. Praise God, who had Macy in His hands the whole time. Side note: there is always the risk of recurrence and a slew of other complications, but we trust that God will continue to provide for Macy regardless of what happens with her health. He has given Macy such a gift in Erin’s kidney and protein free pee and we feel soooooo blessed.

Erin is also doing wonderfully. She and her girls came over for lunch last week and we had a great time together. And Matt if you are reading this, the only thing better than one dog…is TWO dogs!!! Macy and Kathleen also celebrated their 13 year kidneyversary last week. Macy is weirdly enjoying having two kidneys again. We don’t know how much longer Kathleen’s kidney will function, but we will always celebrate!
We have felt so much support from family and friends. We are so grateful for the meals, gift cards, thoughtful gifts, visits, texts. Thank You! In the coming weeks, we are looking forward to some family time in the mountains and fewer trips to Denver for transplant clinic! From here on out, no news is good news!
