Hello from the Jacksons!

Before we get started with updates, we first want to say a big “thank you” to everyone who has donated to COTA for Malin and prayed for Malin and our family during this season of life.

As of this writing Malin is healthy as she waits for her kidney. She has the expected signs of kidney disease, like chronic fatigue and anemia, but overall her baseline health still lets her play and interact pretty normally. We can tell when she has “off” days; she’ll have very little appetite and a high level of nausea, making it clear she needs to stay home and quiet for the day. She’s excited and says every couple of days that she’s ready for her transplant.

As of this writing Malin has received a couple of “potential” kidney offers but been unable to receive them; once because of sickness, another time because she was far enough down the list that the organ went to another recipient. In April she was admitted as a backup for a donation but the first in line was able to receive the organ. We’ve been told all of this is normal and that the transplant team considers at least one offer per week for her, but they’re holding out for the “perfect” one!
