Hello, friends of Miranda and Joel,
It’s honestly difficult to know how to summarize in a helpful way Miranda’s appointment yesterday with her neurologist. Here’s a brief summary: Miranda has experienced a brain injury due to cardiac arrest a few days after the transplant surgery. The brain injury is located on the right side of the brain, in the parietal, temporal, and occipital regions, which affect Miranda’s processing of emotions, sensory information, visional recognition, spatial awareness, etc. All this also impacts her motor functions. All to say, the doctor called this a very complex case.
The best plan forward is to provide as much therapy and stimuli for Miranda’s brain and body to heal. As a result of the appointment, the neurologist has ordered several other diagnostic tests, as well as evaluation for outpatient therapies. The next 6 to 9 months are crucial in her recovery!
As you can imagine, this is very distressing for Joel and their family. It’s as though someone/something has stolen the life that had been theirs, and the future is murky. One thing that is certain–this will be an uphill journey for Miranda to regain what she is capable of recovering.
Please pray with us:
- For Joel and Miranda and the kids to find hope and cling to it as they live each day.
- For identification of therapies and treatments that will bring about the most effective healing for Miranda.
- That the communication between South Pointe with all the doctors and therapists would be clear and conveyed to Joel and others in a timely manner.
- For God’s grace, mercy, and healing of Miranda. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayers!
