Friends of the Rockey’s—
Thank you for all your prayers for Miranda. As shared in the last post, Friday night Miranda was taken to the hospital due to an infection. She was then transferred to University Hospital on Saturday, which is the hospital with her regular doctors. Miranda spent most of Saturday – Monday, sleeping and hopefully providing her body the rest it needed to heal.
So far, all the tests run (which have been many) have shown up with negative results, outside of the UTI. This is great news, as there were concerns that maybe something else was occurring. The doctors are currently working on treating Miranda’s infection, as well as evaluating her medications to make sure she’s on the correct ones/dosages.
Overall, today was a much better day for Miranda. She was able to visit with friends, was awake, talking, demonstrating her great wit, and even making orders for her favorite foods;). Friends even put her to work today, working on memory skills, stretches, and movement!! Overall, it seems Miranda turned around a bit today, and we pray it continues more and more each day!
Thank you all so much for your prayers and kind words for the family. Please continue to lift them up, as there are still unanswered questions and healing to take place. Some specific prayer requests, as we go through the next few days are:
- The PT and Insurance companies will be evaluating where Miranda goes from here. There has been talk about her possibly being recommended to go back to an acute rehab facility (allowing for intensive therapy). Having more intensive therapy would be HUGE for Miranda’s healing. Please pray that, if possible, these pieces would fall into place!
- That doctors are able to clearly identify what is going on with the infections and medications and use the time while Miranda is in the hospital to find positive and sustainable solutions for Miranda’s overall health!
- That Miranda continues to grow/heal in the ways she needs to. Miranda was moving around a lot more and working on specific mobility skills before being admitted into the hospital. Being confined in a bed can be frustrating/disheartening. Please pray for opportunities to still work on needed skills and forward movement in all areas of healing.
- For clear communication between the many doctors and the family! This can be a large barrier in the hospital, especially with as many doctors who support Miranda. Please pray that the doctors communicate well with each other and VERY clearly with Joel/family.
- Lastly, please continue to pray for peace and guidance for Joel and the family as they navigate so many twists and turns, each day.
