Greetings, those following Miranda’s journey. As usual, we can’t thank you enough for your prayers and support of Miranda and the Rockeys! We know and believe that many of the miracles we have seen with Miranda has been a direct correlation to God answering the prayers of many. In turn, we wanted to post a more practical prayer list that could maybe serve as guidance for those wanting to know more specifically how to pray for Miranda.

Not much has changed with Miranda over the past couple weeks. She’s has had some good days and some harder ones. There have been days where Miranda is very engaged, demonstrating her witty self and working hard on her therapy. There have been other days, though, where the brain injury seems more active than not. On some days, it appeared as though Miranda’s brain believed she was doing something (lifting her leg, letting go of something, etc.), however, the muscles weren’t necessarily connecting to what the brain/Miranda believed were occurring. We are thankful that this hasn’t been consistent, but there have still been more occurrences of some of these things than what Miranda seemed to experience before her last hospital stays.

We kindly ask you to keep praying for Miranda. We believe she can continue to improve and believe she desires to work hard to make that happen. There seem to be a number of confusing barriers that keep occurring though…whether from the brain injury or other medical needs that have led her to different procedures or hospital visits. Each time something occurs medically, it can take miranda a step back. Due to this, we ask you to continue to cover Miranda in a blanket of prayers. We believe that Miranda has already been a witness of the power of prayer and ask for your help interceding on her behalf. Here are some specific prayer requests that can be lifted up over the next couple weeks.

  1. Please pray for Miranda’s overall health and body functioning. The healthier she is, the less likelihood of her reaching another setback. Please pray for her digestion and processing of foods. Since the bowel obstruction, there have been more sensitivities that need to be carefully tended to.
  2. Please pray against any infections that could occur and that those caring for her have a clear understanding/agreement of how to keep her infection free!
  3. Please pray for the motivation needed for Miranda to embrace therapy and engage in needed activities for both her physical and mental healing. This has been a barrier, at times, and the absence of engagement during therapy could cause difficulties continuing certain therapies.
  4. Please pray for Miranda’s emotional regulation and, overall, mental health. Brain injuries can have a significant impact on emotions and can often cause different outbursts of emotions, from sadness to anger to even, overly happy, at times. For the most part, Miranda’s kind and gentle spirit has shown through these waves. We’ve seen a bit more variation lately, though, and know it’s not easy for Miranda, or those trying to support her, when out of character emotions come on.
  5. Please pray for wisdom/guidance within Miranda’s medical community. We are hoping to have some conversations with different medical professionals in the coming weeks. Please pray for physicians who see Miranda, her needs, and know how to direct us in the correct direction. Please pray for divine interventions within the medical community on behalf of Miranda. Her situation is complex and there are a number of different doctors involved.
  6. Miranda is in the process of a needed insurance switch, and Joel and others have been working tirelessly to try to move Miranda over to Medicaid coverage that would allow for better coverage/opportunities for Miranda. The process is arduous though. PLEASE PRAY FOR APPROVAL OF THIS PROCESS!! This is a critical need at this time!
  7. Please pray that we can figure out how to best support Miranda emotionally, spiritually, physically so that she can continue with the therapy being offered and help her get to a place of obtaining even more!
  8. Please pray for Joel, the family, and those caring for Miranda. With so many movements and changes, it can be a lot to witness and know how to support Miranda best, while still experiencing grief that hurts deeply.

Overall, thank you SO MUCH for all your kind words, prayers and support for Miranda, Joel, and the whole family!! Each of those things have meant so much to the family and have been, gratefully, received!
