Greetings to all those following and praying for Miranda and the Rockeys. Lots has been happening over the past few weeks, and we thank everyone who is supporting the Rockeys through prayer and other tangible means! Your care and provision mean the world to the family, and we can’t thank you enough!

The start of the holidays started great, with lots of visits with family and precious time in the Rockey home for Christmas Day! Miranda was able to have extended days at home, and be in the home with the family as they relaxed during school breaks, and down time.

Shortly after Christmas, however, Miranda did have a short hospital stay. We’re still not exactly sure what happened. It was possibly an unknown virus that hit miranda differently, causing significant pain/ achiness. During the time in the hospital, the medical team was able to rule out many known viruses and balance out needed medication levels. Overall, Miranda doesn’t seem to have experienced any long term effects, and even in spite of being bedridden for most of a week, she still kicked butt in her next therapy appointment!

The best news of all, though, has to do with upcoming transitions for both Miranda and the family…On January 17, Miranda and Joel met with CICOA to discuss the MFP (Money Follows the Person) Waiver, that Miranda has been approved for!! This waiver is provided for TRANSITION HOME from an assisted living facility and will help provide assistance as Miranda transitions home! Through the MVP waiver, Miranda qualifies for home health aide visits and other supports that will greatly assist both Miranda and the family. This was such an answer to prayer!!!

As a result, transitions have begun to be able to move Miranda home sooner than later. In this transition period, before moving home permanently, Miranda has also been granted overnights home and longer stents outside of the assisted living facility. This is HUGE!! Over the past week, the family has been able to work in a couple overnights and are moving forward with needed transitions for Miranda to be HOME!!

With all of these movements, we ask for continued prayers/support for the family. Some specifics are listed below:

  • Miranda’s therapy at NeuroHope: Miranda has made great strides with therapy, taking many steps, working on stair steps, and continuing to build much needed stamina and strength.  Please continue to pray for stamina, energy, and motivation for Miranda, especially as her daily movements will have more activity, and maintaining strong energy for therapy is helpful.
  • Home transitions/adaptations: please pray for the family as they move forward with needed adaptations/changes that will allow Miranda to have her needs met while at home.
  • Family needs/support: this transition home is a HUGE answer to prayer. There are many changes that will come, though, for Miranda, Joel and the kids. Please pray for their hearts and communication with one another as they enter this new season and roles/responsibilities shift in new ways. Please pray that their community is aware of new needs and know how to support them best.
  • Medical procedures/appointments: please pray for upcoming appointments with doctors/medical providers. Please pray for clear direction and understanding for the family, as they take on medical responsibilities that have been shared with the assisted living facility up to this point.
