Greetings Friends of Miranda.
We apologize for the delay in posting, as we have been trying to gain an understanding of what has been occurring with Miranda over the past few days. Unfortunately, on Tuesday, Miranda was readmitted to the hospital due to what appeared to be an infection of some sort and a build up of fluid around her kidney. Since that time, they have been able to drain the fluid and determine that Miranda does, in fact, have a bacterial infection (enterococcus faecalis). In turn, they are treating the infection with a known antibiotic that works against this kind of bacteria.
Additionally, today, they were able to recognize what the fluid building up seems to be and know where to look for a possible leak. In turn, they are running some tests to determine if there is a leak and whether a stent needs to be placed. The good news is, since draining the fluid, all Miranda’s organs seem to be doing well. Her levels are good and all is functioning well! The doctors have reiterated that the procedures/possible need for a stent is not an emergency, but would be answers to some of what has been going on in the past few days. Overall, it’s been very confusing to figure out exactly what was occurring and how to adjust to move forward.
We praise God that Miranda was quite alert today, and was talking clearly. She is still able to communicate well and seems to still have her appreciative, kind spirit through all of this. She is such a joy to be around and continues to shine light to those around her!
At this time, we don’t know too much more than this, but do ask for your prayers over the next few days as medical teams work to provide treatment for Miranda. Please keep Miranda in your prayers, as the tests are done and possible procedures are planned. We will work to get an update on here in a couple days, after we know if a stent needs to be placed and what next steps might be. For now, some of the immediate thoughts for prayers are:
- That we get clear answers through the scans of what is going on and that solutions are clear and simple.
- If procedures are needed, they go smoothly and can be done soon.
- Clear communication between the doctors and family. Being back in the hospital means there are numerous doctors reporting, and it’s never quite known when they will do rounds. In turn, getting information and being at the hospital when things happen can be a bit unpredictable.
- Prayers for a fast recovery/treatment in the hospital and that Miranda will be able to be discharged soon to return to the intensive therapy she was receiving.
- Prayers that the pause in intensive therapy won’t be a backtrack in Miranda’s progress.
- Continued prayers for organ function to remain steady and strong!!
- Peace for the family as they navigate the unknowns, sudden shifts in plans, and next steps.
- Continued prayers for a full recovery of Miranda’s organs, body, mind, vision, and overall function!
Thank you, everyone, for all your concern and prayers for Miranda and her family!!
