Thankful for a good 10 days…

We wanted to post a quick update as the weekend begins to let everyone know that Myka has had a really good last 10 days! Despite having a rough 24 hours (throwing up and not sleeping last night) we want to pause and praise God for a good little stretch. We haven’t received any bad news about setbacks with Myka in a whole two weeks… That might be a record for 2017!

Myka did great with 2 rounds of bloodwork this week and we’re thankful that her “liver numbers” (ALT / AST / GGBT) all trended downward just a bit. Still not into expected normal ranges, but remember this kid has her own health baseline. This is great for several reasons – #1) Lower numbers signal that her body is slowly accepting the liver as its own, #2) Lower numbers signal against rejection (at least this week), and most importantly #3) Lower numbers mean that the transplant doctors feel comfortable weening more of her steroids, starting today! Cue parental excitement.

Myka’s plan going forward right now is to monitor blood work each week and strive to reduce meds, if the doctors deem she is able. Continue to PRAY against the complications of rejection, infection, bleeding, clotting and sickness. Also, PRAY that her “liver numbers” continue to trend down and that further invasive procedures aren’t needed.

Excitement at our house lately has revolved around some splashing and swimming in the kiddie pool out back and Alivia getting aclimated to her new theater class that is performing “Moana” later this summer.  All Myka does is run around shouting “Yee-Yee” (Livy) and “Ma-Na” (Moana).  Celebrating the little things right now is pretty awesome.

Thanks for supporting our family so well. Love ya!

Pressing On,

Richie, Regan, Alivia & Myka
