Last week, while visiting Gulf Shores, something truly special happened, Nahla finally got to meet Amelia, a girl her age who also had a liver transplant just a few months before her.
After Nahla’s transplant, I joined a few support groups on Facebook, hoping to connect with other families who understood what we were going through. That’s where I met Amelia’s parents. Their story felt eerily similar to ours, and over the years, we’ve stayed in touch. They’ve celebrated Nahla’s milestones right alongside us, sent care packages when she was in the hospital, and offered encouragement whenever complications came our way.
Seeing these two strong, resilient girls meet for the very first time in person was nothing short of amazing. There they were, laughing, playing, and simply being kids – living proof of how far they’ve come. Watching them together was a beautiful reminder of the power of hope, medical miracles, and the incredible community that surrounds transplant families.
We’re so grateful for this bond that started online but has now become a real friendship. Two brave girls, two new livers, one unforgettable moment.
