With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. In Jacksonville and Portland, Oregon and Jenny’s former work community in Seoul, South Korea, volunteers are raising funds for COTA in honor of transplant patients like local toddler, Noah James.
Noah is the son of Jennifer James. Born on March 29, 2014, Noah was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. The doctors at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital in Portland have recommended a life-saving kidney transplant. Noah was successfully transplanted on Thursday, November 10, 2016. An estimated $200,000 is being raised worldwide by volunteers.
