Looking Into a New Year

So a lot has happened (and a lot hasn’t!!) in a very short time.  The PPRC said they were accepting Pearl, but when I said she was inpatient they said they would have to reconsider.  We spent Christmas on 10 South, which was a good thing because the rooms are relatively large, the nurses know us well, and we were even allowed to take her down to the cafe for a while!  Francis was sick, but Rose, Jeff, Pam, Sam, Will and Morgan all made it.  Pearl and I had spent about an hour sorting gifts.  We had a great time opening things together!!  Then, after the siblings left, Denise and Jay stopped by, so we had even more visitors!  And the day after Christmas brought what we had been waiting for, the move to Bader!  It’s been several days now, but they have been interrupted by weekends and holidays where not much gets done.  Still, we have made some progress.  A safety plan has been started.  We had our first “family” meeting with the team, and Pearl got her first pass to go off the unit with just me.  The rest of this week will be busy!  There will be another short pass off the unit, another family meeting, and maybe a longer pass into the “Longwood Area” instead of strictly in the hospital.  The team is also going to try to coordinate with the PPRC to see if we can go directly to their program from here.  They will also begin working with the school on a plan for her to go back to school safely.  This is a crazy and frustrating new journey, but some of the new people we’ve met along the way (“sitters”) have bumped into us from time to time and are very encouraging, the nurses from 10 South were wonderful as always, and Rabbi Susan makes an appearance every few days and cheers us both up!  Please keep sending prayers and words of encouragement!
