Spring and Summer

SO many things have happened.  Sadly, many of them not so good.  So we’ve had several short hospital stays (March, May, July), plus several ER visits (March, July), and LOTS of appointments.  Liver numbers went up to just above normal in December and stayed there.  Biopsy in June showed fatty deposits in the liver are the most likely culprit.  Liver is otherwise healthy, but Pearl needs to be more conscious than ever about the amount of exercise she is getting. She is also struggling with a lot of GI issues, so she has a scope later this month so they can see if something is happening there as well.

School was a struggle, but she passed everything but algebra II, so she opted to take it next year instead of in summer school.  And the year ended on a positive note – her IEP was restored!!  And, she will have a tutor available as soon as she’s got to be out next year.  Plus a teacher who will be helping her to manage her work, help her with speaking to the teachers about make up work, extra help etc, and helping her learn how to speak up for herself when dealing with teachers.  All helpful skills for college!

Also on a positive note, she has taken her senior portraits, and bought a prom dress/bridesmaids dress for Thea’s wedding.  So two big issues of senior year are taken care of.  So crazy to think she’s a senior!!  Where has the time gone!!
