So here we are in July, half way between virtual graduation and a possible in person graduation. And yet again, the world hands us some lemons! So, since the crazy inpatient visit just before quarantine, we have been doing labs more frequently. Since the numbers have stayed slightly elevated, in June they asked us to repeat labs in July. Well, those labs were a lot higher, 100+ on labs that should be 50 or less. So they asked us to repeat in a week. Oh joy, now they’re in the 200’s. So 3 days later (today) we went for labs and an ultrasound. Ultrasound is the same as the last two, so fatty deposits, but no major changes. But, labs are now high 200s and one is even over 300! So tomorrow they will order a biopsy and call us with the dates, and, of course, she’ll need a COVID test within 48 hours of the biopsy. I think it has to be done in Boston, so two trips to Boston in 48 hours is coming up! I was actually surprised they let us go home, but it being late on a Thursday, they probably figure Monday would be the soonest biopsy, and we would have sat there all weekend without anything much being done. She’s miserable for the most part because it’s caused her pain syndrome to act up. Right now she’s playing Minecraft with Will, so not too bad. Hopefully Ethan will visit this weekend and take her mind off it!
Thank goodness for virtual visits! I’ve not had to use a lot of vacation or sick days, so we’re ready for this (well, kind of).
A funny event from today (well two). First, one of our favorite nurses was minding the employee checkin, so we got to talk to her briefly on the way in and out today. Second, while we were eating and killing time waiting for the traffic to thin, Pearl started working on some masks. There was an elderly couple sitting nearby, and Pearl decided to make a mask for the woman. When she went over to give it to her, the woman talked to her for a while, then prayed for her. It was sweet! And we’ll definitely take any prayers, good vibes, good juju, or whatever it is that you can send her way!!!
