Will time!

Got to go to the birthday dinner we had planned for Will Saturday night, but didn’t get to see him on his birthday.  So came home for the night, and Morgan and Sam stayed with Pearl until she went to bed.  Will and I did some Christmas shopping (thanks to my holiday pay and the Target gift cards the social worker gave me!).  It isn’t much, but everyone got SOMETHING!  And Will and I had Five Guys for supper, then ran around Target trying to find stuff people would like!  It was funny!  He’s off to bed, and I think it’s time for a shower and some gift wrapping!  Anyone want to help Will put up the tree LOL?

As for Pearl, the virus seems to be waning, but we have to wait to see the exact recommendations infectious disease made, and whether or not any of the programs are willing to take her based on them.  It’s crunch time, because tomorrow is Thursday, and most places don’t take new people over the weekend, and the likelihood of getting anything done Christmas Eve or Christmas day is pretty slim, so we have TWO DAYS to get this presented, approved, insurance okayed, or she will end up stuck here on 10 South until close to this time next week!  At least it’s 10 South and not the ER, and once infectious disease clears her, maybe we can at least leave the room!  Also, the various psychiatrists we have dealt with over the years (transplant and pain clinic) have been in touch and often come to see her together.  The psychiatric team from the ER is also checking in.  They have moved forward together to work on a new medication to see if they can at least get some improvement that way while we wait for a placement.  So at least it’s not complete limbo, like so many patients end up in while waiting!  For such an advanced health care system, the US really falls behind in psychiatric care.  There are not enough beds, not enough psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, or social workers.  There are often restrictions on meds by insurance.  The system is broken!!
