Another Hospital Stay Taking It’s Toll

Rowan underwent his second ERCP procedure on Thursday.  The physicians were able to access the bile ducts and place an external drain.  It seems as though there isn’t one specific area of blockage; rather, an overall issue of un-dilated bile ducts due to the hepatic artery thrombosis after transplant.

Unfortunately, after the procedure Rowan developed a high fever, is very nauseas and overall just very uncomfortable.  He was supposed to be released on Friday, however he cannot go home until his fever subsides.   At first physicians were very concerned he has a blood infection but so far the tests have come back negative.  Please pray this continues to be the case.  Right not they are treating Rowan as though he has cholangitis which he has had before and is very common is liver transplant patients.  Please pray that they are able to correctly diagnose which infection he has and also find the right antibiotic to treat him.  Also pray that his body would respond to the antibiotic and he does not become resistant or unresponsive to the course of treatement.

Emotionally, physically and mentally Caleb and Sara are very much drained.  This journey continues to take a toll that most of us cannot imagine or relate to.  Pray that God will give them the strength and encouragement to get through this next hospital stay.  Pray that they continue to hold tight to the things they know to be true about God and their situation.  We trust God’s plan is good even in the midst of suffering and we choose to remember the faithfulness of the Lord and how far he has carried the Vets.  He will not stop working for their good now!

Thank you for continuing to encourage and pray for the Vets!  Your commitment to them is truly remarkable!  God has brought together an amazing group of people to love them and they are so grateful!
