The View from Day 436: Gratitude, Growth, and New Beginnings

Day 436 of Sam’s Leukemia Journey

Day 221 Post Transplant

The 2025 holiday season finds Sam and our family at the summit of a long, tumultuous journey.

Sam’s transplant gifted him with renewed health and restored confidence in a future of happiness and possibility.

At the end of September, Sam’s bone marrow analysis showed that he remains cancer free! We now focus on establishing new weekly routines, managing daily medications, and discovering a new sense of normalcy.

Currently, Sam is finishing the first semester of his junior year through online school, spending quality time with family and friends and learning how to drive a stick shift. Sam even played basketball and held his newborn cousin.

It’s been 14 months since Sam’s diagnosis and 7 months since his bone marrow transplant. Sam has encountered obstacles during his treatment and recovery but we feel abundantly blessed to watch Sam experience life with excitement and optimism.

We are eternally grateful for everyone who travels this journey with us, shoulders the weight of uncertainty and fear, comforts with emotional and financial support and lights the path with love and friendship.

We anticipate many more adventures and cherish moments together as we keep climbing on Sam’s journey toward life after cancer.
