Hey guys…here’s an update on our sweet boy🩵
After 4 days of being hospitalized at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, Shafer’s labs have not improved, so he had to have surgery to put in the hemodialysis catheter. We were hoping his kidney could bounce back, but with only 7% functioning, we have to do this to keep him safe until we can get to his second transplant. His medical team is working toward getting things scheduled, but the quickest it will probably take place is early April. (we have two living donors who have been approved for now…but it has been unbelievable to receive correspondence from several others who are offering to test)
We will be in the hospital for a few more days…then he will have hemodialysis 3x a week here in Nashville (can’t do it in Chatt).
Shafer is weaker today…as his energy has decreased…but his positive attitude & complete trust in the Lord has INCREASED🙌🏻🙌🏻 He fully understands the seriousness of his situation, yet chooses JOY EACH DAY😭😭😭 What an incredible blessing to be his mom & watch him always find the silver lining in the midst of intense suffering❣️
Thanks for your many prayers, texts, calls & other beautiful acts of kindness💕 He continues to say, “I just feel so loved, mom”🥺 You will never know how much we appreciate each & every one of you❤️❤️
