We are thrilled to announce that Shafer’s kidney transplant is set for Monday, April 28th at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, TN. What a blessing that God has divinely aligned another miracle as Shayli is a perfect match and will be his living donor!! She has dreamed of this day since she was a little girl when Shafer had his first transplant back in 2011. Her compassion for her baby brother took root in her heart and not only did she vow to be his next donor, but fell in love with medicine and is pursuing a lifelong passion of helping others through a career as a PA. She is presently in school and will be spending her break between clinical rotations recovering from surgery🙏🏻 Please pray for both of our children as the Lord uses one to extend life to the other through this powerful expression of selfless love. Thank you for your support & concern during this time as it means the world to us❤️Shafer continues to do well with dialysis 3x a week, even though it is difficult to travel back & forth. He was able to finish his basketball season & has enjoyed getting to go back to church youth group! He also got his driver’s permit & is going to prom on Friday😎 He’s trying to soak up every minute of time with his friends & family before the big surgery!!
