It’s been a busy week update.

Hospital Stay is Over!

On August 22nd, Shantel bumped into some of her pancreatitis friends here. Two from Utah, one from Idaho and one from San Antonio. Seeing kids she knows going through the same thing really makes the world seem so much smaller.

Shantel graduated from the hospital pump. The start of the 48 hour training happened on August 23rd. It has been going good and the staff is there to help and assist with questions.

The feeding tube will stay in for another 6 weeks. Shantel has been drinking plenty but food still isn’t appealing. Not even McDonald’s fries could sway her!

The pain pump was removed on August 26th and Shantel got the OK to leave the floor for 30 minutes today! She worked on stairs and played some soccer today. She’s still got a few hurdles but has had a better day by day. Discharge date was getting closer and closer. They needed to reduce the pain medications and her to get more caloric intake.

Shantel on an adventure

The hospital staff helped celebrate her birthday that happened back in July. Every milestone and moment is worth celebrating!!

Well, the discharge date finally came!!! Shantel was released from the hospital yesterday, September 3rd! We are getting her settled in at the Ronald McDonald House. She will have weekly appointments with all the clinics while we are here for the next 3-4 weeks.
