Alyssa’s surgery went incredibly well. Our parents were able to see her around 2:30am. She was heavily sedated at the time, but her team said everything had gone well. By 6:30am, Alyssa was asking for mom and dad, and had started to open her eyes. They took out her breathing tube just after noon which made her very happy. In a few hours they’ll take her off of the breathing machine and she will take her very first breath with her new lungs on her own— wow! Alyssa is understandably in a lot of pain and her team is working hard to manage it. We thank you all for your thoughts and prayers you’ve offered over the last 24 hours.
