At 6:40 pm this evening, a doctor from the Vanderbilt Transplant Team called and said they have a heart for Bella. We calmly packed our bags and are currently headed north to Vanderbilt. He said surgery is expected to be early morning. I’m not sure if that means 3am early or 6am early. Please keep us in prayer. I will post updates as regularly as I can
10:19pm CST- we have arrived at Vanderbilt. We are still trying to get checked in. Next step
Is to register then go up to a room to get poked and prodded.
Sunday, 4/18/2021
6:12am CST – The surgeon just came by to get us to sign consent. He was leaving to go get Bella’s new heart. He said they will come get Bella at 8am to begin prepping her. By 8:15am we will know 100% for sure that this is the perfect heart. Bella is still sleeping soundly right now.
8:00am CST – Bella was taken to the OR. Our first update should be in a couple hours.
10:19am CST – Bella is doing well so far. They got all necessary labs and lines in. She went to sleep easily and is very stable. They should be working on opening her up now, prayer needed to make sure she doesn’t have any bleeding issues. This part can be risky and tricky. We should get another update in about an hour.
10:56am – Bella doing great, very stable. They are working their way through the scar tissue.
