Cali Camille was born on Friday Jan. 31st and reborn on Friday May 9th. Cali was wheeled back to OR 12:15 am to get her new heart and 8:01 am she was on her way back to her room. She is doing AMAZING and transplant went as well as it could possibly go. Her body accepted it, the donor heart came back to life and is functioning amazingly and the rest of Cali’s organs are also functioning perfectly. The only thing they are seeing at the moment is 1 of her lungs collapsing. Her heart previously was huge, almost double normal size, so it was pressing against 1 lung kinda squishing it. They think this is because of that, so they are doing some aggressive respiratory treatments today to see how she responds to that. They also put her on a Propofol drip to help wean her off all the sedation safely. Overall, lil miss Cali is crushing it! Just like every other challenge presented to her.
Again, I want to thank everyone for keeping Cali in their prayers. We cannot express enough how much it means to us. ❤️ Please continue to pray for our sweet, beautiful Cali on recovery and very special prayer and a huge thank you to the family of the baby that made this transplant possible. We are eternally grateful for your gift of life. We promise THAT heart will not go to waste.
