Post Transplant – Day 20

We are overjoyed to share that Cali was successfully extubated on Monday and after 11 weeks, she finally got her paci ❤️—This is a huge step forward in recovery and a powerful sign of how strong and resilient our little warrior truly is. She currently has a cannula with the same breathing support as the tube that they are slowly weaning. Since she was intubated for so long, they are taking cautious measures to ensure her lung muscles are strong enough. We’re taking it one breath at a time, but this moment gives us so much hope.

Cali has made HUGE progress with currently only on (2) IV medications, which are being weaned very slowly. She is still experiencing severe withdrawals and some days are worse than others. It’s extremely hard to watch her go through these and pray the process gets easier on her. The care team is managing each day with supportive measures and adjusting the weaning plan as needed to ensure comfort and stability to promote a smooth transition. We are slowly seeing our little Cali come back to us and cannot get over her precious smile and how much of a fighter she is!!

As always, thank you everyone who continues to pray for our beautiful Cali and keeping her in your thoughts. We feel every single one of them. 💖 Please pray for smooth transition with weaning and she is able to come off these IV medications. Once she is off these and breathing support, she will be able to be moved to the step down unit (CCU). #teamcali #heartwarrior
