Cali’s heart was really struggling Monday night and we almost lost her. She started going through tachycardia, with sustained heart rates in the 200s for most of the night into Tuesday morning, and was really close to going into cardiac arrest. She was transferred to CVICU and they were able to get her sedated and “stable” while avoiding any surgeries. This is huge because they don’t believe she would’ve survived cardiac arrest and still aren’t confident she can be put on a mechanical machine.
She’s back on all the support and was reintubated to reduce stress on the heart, which looks scary because it is.
They are giving her antibiotics for 7 days to avoid NEC and will slowly start back feedings (breast milk) after they are finished and 100% sure her stomach has recovered.
All her organs are showing they are working great and what happened on Monday night, thank God, didn’t damage anything…. She is showing signs of recovering well. The next step is to try to remove the breathing tube beginning of the week to see how her heart responds.
They started eligibility testing, for the transplant, on Tuesday and expedited the process…. We hope to hear if she is a transplant candidate or not this week. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 She currently weighs 6 lbs 10 oz.
