Well……. Cali had a small set back and had to be re-intubated Saturday morning. She wasn’t showing good gag reflexes combined with excessive secretions and to protect her airways they decided to be proactive with intubating her again. They believe this is due to the high amounts of sedation she is on and she needs to be weaned off these more before trying again. The doctors talked to us about this weaning process and in their opinion, the heart transplant is the easy part. The weaning off sedation is hard. It’s hard to see Cali in this situation and pray it starts to get better. Cali hates the breathing tube and wants her pacifier soooo bad! We pray the doctors and nurses find the right combination to wean Cali safety to avoid experiencing withdrawals. This might be the hardest challenge for Cali to be able to come home. 🙏🏼🙏🏼On the brighter note, today the nurses surprised Cali by upgrading her bed. She looks so small in this big crib and she’s already loving it. #teamcali #heartwarrior
