Post Transplant – Day 31 (CCU)

I just wanted to share some amazing news — our sweet baby Cali as of yesterday , one month post heart transplant, has been transferred out of the ICU and into the CCU (step-down unit)!!!!! We are so grateful for the incredible CV team, the donor family, and for all the love, prayers, and support we’ve received throughout this journey.

Here Cali will start her next set of challenges with being weaned off of the Claudine patch, eating by mouth, and going through occupational therapy. This Friday she will see ENT to look at her vocal cords again to see if they have improved. Since she was intubated for so long, they have become weak and are extremely important if she will be able to eat successfully. 🙏🏼 🙏🏼

Today, Cali was able to experience some special moments for the first time. She got to have her first ride in a stroller and was able to see what it was like to leave her room and go OUTSIDE! ❤️. Also, Gid and I were both able to hold her standing up without all of those wires and holding her in my arms is such a blessing! You can tell she’s been waiting so long just to be held like that and we cannot thank God enough. 🥰🙌🏼.

Please continue to pray for Cali as she continues on this part of recovery and continue to cheer her on. We are one step closer to our Cali coming home!!
