The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Fred Smith is a twenty one year old kid from Medway Massachusetts who has cystic fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the lungs, digestive system, and other organs in the body. As of right now, there is no cure to CF. However, to help Fred live a better life, he can have a double lung transplant which would help extend and improve Fred’s life. Although, a lung transplant will not cure Fred’s cystic fibrosis because it is found in cells in the body, it is very important procedure that can help Fred in the future.
Our hope that sometime in the next year, we can find a match for Fred so that he can have the transplant. Although we are very excited for the transplant, it has a very long recovery time and he will be out of work for a little while after. Fred and his family has partnered with COTA for assistance with transplant related expenses. Thank you so much for taking your time to visit the fundraising website. Please consider donating to COTA in honor of Fred Smith.
