Wow, well…do I even need to say that this is just the year none of us were expecting? For us it was both figuring out how to navigate a pandemic and also…it was a lot harder to get a date set for a kidney transplant than I had expected!! Apparently I was just way too optomistic with my timeline. I think I was telling all of you that had asked that…probably by mid February Isaac would be having his transplant. But then, okay, wait, it takes a bit longer…March. COVID…WHAT?! Now nothing until May at least! Maybe June…and so on. The process felt so long, but we found out in mid August that we have a donor!! I don’t know who they are, so if you are reading this, and its you…THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! From the bottom of our hearts. We are sending you all the virtual hugs – and some tears mixed with joy/relief/thankfulness. We hope to thank you in person someday!
So after knowing we had a donor there was a bit more waiting for everyones schedules to align. And now, finally, we have a date! November 17th. It seriously felt like it would never come and now here it is looming just a few weeks away. Isaac is thrilled. He knows its a long surgery and there will be some recovery time, but he has been feeling crummy for awhile. He takes long naps each afternoon, and wants to get outside and play, but quickly becomes exhaused. We only do virtual school until noon each day and lately I feel like he couldn’t take another minute. Some days hes tired by mid morning…others he can make it until the afternoon. He is just ready to have energy again. There are still many, many unknowns, and I don’t fully know what to expect. But right now I know that we can’t go on like this much longer, so bring it on!! I will post in a few weeks once we get to Ohio and share more details, but for now I just wanted to share this bit of good news. I think we could all use some good news!
