Update on Isaiah (11/05/2025)

Yesterday, Layla took Isaiah for his first checkup since coming home. His liver numbers look good, and his spleen is finally shrinking. However, he still has some fluid in his abdomen and a dropping platelet count, which could mean there’s still some internal bleeding. They originally planned to monitor him closely in hopes it would heal with time.

Later that afternoon, the doctor called and asked them to come back for a CT scan. What was supposed to be a quick visit turned into another hospital stay. The scan showed a hematoma – an infected pocket of blood in his abdomen. He was started on IV antibiotics and pain medication, and a new plan to drain the fluid and place a drain tube.

Today, Isaiah’s doctor confirmed that there are TWO fluid pockets that will be drained by Interventional Radiology. Isaiah will have drain tubes and continue IV antibiotics for a while. The good news is that his latest scan shows no blood clots in his portal veins, an incredible sign of progress.

They expect to stay in the hospital for at least a week or two while he heals. Please continue to keep Isaiah and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
