Wow! Time sure does fly. I figured it was past time for an update on our strong little boy. Jason is growing up before our eyes. He is running all over the place collecting rocks and sticks, racing in the front yard, and playing “my rock” on the neighbor’s rocks across the street. He is an active little guy and keeps us on our toes. He loves being outside and will go to the door and try to open it when he wants to go outside no matter what the weather is like. He is really good at moving things like laundry baskets and will help Mommy do the laundry and vacuum. He loves reading books and will come to us with multiple books to read to him throughout the day and will even start reading them himself in his 19-month-old boy babble. He is saying a few words and will throw toys for the dog and say “bite”. He surprises us with new things all the time and he loves to make us laugh by being silly.
He is still getting majority of his nutrition and hydration from g-tube feeds, but he is taking baby steps and we hope he will continue to progress. We continue to go up and down with the therapeutic levels of his anti-rejection medication and must get labs done frequently and adjust his dose and hydration levels. He is a champ though and very rarely cries when he gets his labs done anymore, which makes me kind of sad, but that is our life. We still see our transplant team monthly, but after his 1-year cardiac catheterization we will hopefully reduce that to every other month. We are looking forward to less appointments and being able to have more family time.
We are so grateful for the donations to COTA so far; COTA has helped us pay for the many medical costs after transplant. The beginning of the year was definitely eye opening as the bills started coming in. Thank you all for following our little man’s story and thank you in advance for your donations to COTA in honor of Jason they are very much appreciated.
