Well the holidays, and new year have come and gone and I still have not sent an update on our little man. He is growing and learning so much. Since my last update he has had a birthday and is now 3, and he will start an in-home preschool in the Fall school year. He knows his numbers, letters, colors, and he is working on spelling his name (he currently spells it “Blippi”). He has been obsessed with monster trucks (which helped us through potty training), and now dinosaurs. Hearing a 3 year old say “parasaurolyphus” is the most amusing thing ever. He is a little ball of energy from the time he wakes up to the time he goes to sleep and we are so grateful for that.
All of his check ups with his transplant team have been good. We were able to draw some extra labs to check for rejection which allowed us to push his heart cath procedure out about 6-8 months. We are nervous to do them since the kidney complications and abnormal biopsy results from the last one, but it is the only accurate way to check for rejection and also coronary artery issues. He will get that procedure done in mid -February so all of the good thoughts and prayers are welcome.
We are preparing for a new addition to the family and Jason is really excited to be a big brother. He tells me he needs the baby to come out of my tummy and sit with him all of the time. I have been going through all of the old clothes we kept from when Jason was little and found the altered clothes from when he was hospitalized. I can’t lie I found myself in tears going through those memories. Memories no parent should have to have, but still they are there.
He is doing so well now, but we know every day is precious and time is sweet. We are trying every day to soak up as much time and experiences as we can with our Jason. Thank you all again for your support. We really appreciate it, all donations to COTA in honor of Jason have been used for the multitude of transplant-related expenses families like us experience.
So sweet! Love hearing good news and you are right, enjoy each day ??
