In aww of Jason learning and growing!!

Well it has been quite a while since my last update, but it has been a little bit rocky since then. Jason had some GI virus symptoms that lasted a while. We postponed his heart catheterization until the middle of March and at that procedure his hemoglobin blood levels were really low indicating his body wasn’t making enough red blood cells. That day we went back and forth wondering if he should be admitted to the hospital, but we were able to go home and had a plan to recheck his levels the next week. He continued to have low levels and at his next clinic visit his levels were low enough to have him admitted to the hospital for further work up. He was admitted under the hematology service and had a lot of tests completed that were all ultimately negative. He also had a blood transfusion to give his body more red blood cells until his body started making them again. He continued having labs done outpatient on a weekly basis and had to have another blood transfusion on the same day we brought his baby brother home from the hospital. After that blood transfusion his body started making its own red blood cells and he has been fine since. They think he may have had a virus that his body was trying to fight off for so long that his bone marrow stopped making red blood cells, and once the virus cleared and his body recovered it just started producing them again.

Since then he has been doing really well. He has had some small colds but recovered from them fine. He has started preschool and loves it. He is all about monster trucks, dragons, and aquarium animals. He and his Daddy got a big fish tank and he enjoys going with to get the fish and snails to put in it.

Jason loves his baby brother and is what I call “aggressively affectionate” to him and wants to wrestle and play with him already.

We are so in awe watching Jason grow and learn. We are so grateful for this chance and also for all of your support.
