John Crandall was born with Chronic Renal Failure. Doctors did not expect him to make it through his first night due to burst lungs. After two and a half months in NICU/PICU, he was able to go home. At age 2 he got a feeding tube as he was not eating enough to survive. At the age of 10, John got to the point of needing a kidney transplant. He received a kidney from his mom, Kim. During the last 10 years, John has had a couple of rejection scares. Each time, the rejection was able to be stopped with IV medications, leaving his kidney disease at a higher level.
John is now 20 and has stage 5 kidney disease. This has put him back on the transplant list. John will need to travel to Sioux Falls for his transplant and will incur a lot of expenses not covered under insurance — travel, hotel stays and approximately two months out of work. 100% of proceeds from fundraising will go to COTA for Team John C and will assist with transplant-related expenses. Any checks should be made payable to COTA. Thank you in advance for your support.
The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
