Late last night, CHOP called my mom stating that they may want me to come home early due to the looting and rioting being so near to where we are staying. Apparently the risk of me staying in Philadelphia just got higher than me being 2 hours from medical treatment.
I had my second clinic checkup today, including bloodwork, an echocardiogram, EKG, and exercise therapy. I’m so out of shape right now – exercise is so hard! I do want to get back into shape before this fall for the West Shore Marching Band in which I have played trumpet and been in the color guard. Also, exercising teaches my new heart to ramp up with my body’s signals – my brain nerves are no longer connected to my heart (CRAZY).
There is one new concern found today is a new effusion around my heart. This could be part of the normal process, could be a sign of a small rejection, or signs that my kidneys aren’t adjusted yet. More work will be done on me Thursday to figure this out.
Around 5:40 tonight, I surprised my brothers and sisters by coming home unannounced. They were so confused at first, and then VERY excited! I am HOME!!!! Also, some neighbors welcomed me home in a safe, socially distanced manner. I do have some very nice people around me and am thankful.
