Update from Meg from last night: Greetings from the Duke Emergency Room. Ken has been in the ER for about 6 hours and they’ve decided to admit him, excepted stay could be 2-3 days. He has several things going on, but it started last night with a fever of 106 (eek!) that lasted for several hours. The fever finally broke in the middle of the night, but came back around 2:00 today, along with pain in his abdominal area. The pain in his stomach was enough to make the trek to the ER. And thank goodness we decided to come! He has a pretty gnarly infection in the abdominal fluid in his belly (that he has because of the failing liver) and they discovered that his kidneys aren’t functioning at full capacity. Right now, they are treating the infection with IV antibiotics and running more tests on the kidneys. That’s all we know for now. I’ll give an update when we know more. The doctors and nurses have been super kind and helpful!
